Park(ing) Day Celebration in The East Cut

The East Cut CBD set up a temporary parklet in front on Socola Chocolatier on Folsom Street, between 1st and 2nd Street in celebration of Park(ing) Day on September 15th. Started in 2015 by a San Francisco based design firm, Park(ing) Day has grown to an international one-day event to reclaim space otherwise occupied by cars. Our parklet consisted of cafe tables and chairs for those walking by to enjoy a cup of coffee, a bite to eat or to have an outdoor meeting. Our Street Services Team were on-hand to engage passersby about CBD services and to capture feedback on what type of activities and attractions each of them would like to see programmed in our District’s public spaces.

Many thanks to Board Member Wendy Lieu of Socola for letting us set up shop in front of her store and for generously providing the tables and chairs. And thank you to the Philz Coffee on Folsom Street for donating dog treats to pass out to our 4-legged neighbors!
