POSITION DESCRIPTION

As the Public Realm Maintenance and Operations Manager (PRMOM), you are responsible for overseeing the full suite of public realm enhancements provided by The East Cut Community Benefit District (The East Cut CBD). In the role, you are a leader in a fast-paced civic nonprofit, enhancing the quality of life in one of San Francisco’s fastest growing neighborhoods. You will be directly responsible for managing the contractors of The East Cut CBD in the performance of neighborhood clean and safe services, park and open space maintenance, neighborhood street-tree maintenance, and other vendors for related services that may arise.

DUTIES

  • Manage public realm vendors providing neighborhood cleaning, safety, dispatch, and street tree, parks, and public realm maintenance
  • Ensure that all services meet and exceed the requirements outlined in The East Cut’s Management Plan and per contracts between The East Cut CBD and service vendors
  • Perform regular evaluations of services, including neighborhood surveys, third-party independent evaluations, and staff audits
  • Annually negotiate service rates with service providers
  • Review vendor reports on services provided to check for accuracy and make improvements to services and/or contracts when needed
  • Coordinate with the Communications Manager to develop regular neighborhood reports that effectively communicate the impact of The East Cut CBD’s services
  • Produce required reports for the City and County of San Francisco and reports to other government entities or public agencies as requested
  • Walk the district regularly to identify problems requiring response, develop and maintain punch list of issues, and work with services providers and community on solutions
  • Work with Recology, PGE, Public Works, and other public and private entities as needed to address neighborhood issues as they arise
  • Organize and lead the Street Services and Safety Committee of The East Cut CBD, in coordination with the Street Services and Safety Committee Chair, as well as any sub-committees or working groups
  • Communicate with The East Cut’s stakeholders (via MailChimp) on issues that have significant impact in the district (street closures, events/protest, security alerts, et al)
  • Lead regular meetings with service providers
  • Complete other tasks and projects that may be assigned to the PRMOM at the discretion of the Executive Director.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in property management or large-scale cleaning and maintenance projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED)

  • Experience with public space management
  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks, including hiring/HR, procurement, administration, database management, and general office maintenance
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point)
  • Well-developed communication skills, including speaking, writing and listening
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the public, board members, and staff
  • Demonstrated success in following through promptly and completing projects
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and assign work to others
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
  • Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.

HELPFUL TO HAVE

An interest/background in urban planning, civic nonprofits, public policy, property-based improvement districts, and/or real estate. Experience with Business Improvement Districts or Community Benefit Districts and the City of San Francisco.

ABOUT THE CBD

In July 2015, the East Cut Community Benefit District was originally formed as the Greater Rincon Hill Community Benefit District by area property owners and other stakeholders to advance the neighborhood’s quality of life, enhance its public realm, and reinforce the viability of its economic base. The East Cut CBD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation supported by property owners through an annual assessment.

This full-time permanent non-exempt position reports to the Executive Director. The PRMOM will work traditional 9-5, M-F hours, but additional hours will be required on certain nights and weekends.
